Missing Chapters

I didn't actually have time to rewrite them so this is more of a summary than actually chapters. Sorry! (I changed her father's name from Nethrix to Jerosum)

PS: Sorry aboout the spelling!

Chapter 2

The next morning Natalin remembered nothing of the nightmare. She went about her day as usual. She had her lessons, and lunch. Around 2:00 she was preparing to go for a ride with Rey, when a servant informed her that her Father wished to speak with her before she left.
The sound of her riding boots clacking against the marble floor echoed in her ears as She walked down the enormous hall that led to Jerosum's (her father and Elvin King) study.
He was sitting in his favorite chair when she entered, with his head bent over a very old looking book. "Father," she said cheerfully, "you wanted to see me?"
He shook his head slowly and closed the book. He looked up at her. His old eyes looked weary as he stared at her.
"Father?"
He gave her a tired grin. "You know I love you, don't you?"
"Of course I do!"
He grinned again.
"what did you want?"
"you know that our laws say by Her 18th birthday the princess must be wed in order to inherit the throne. You will be 18 in 3 weeks sweetheart and you don't even have a beau. I have chosen a husband for you."
Natalin froze trying to absorb the rush of startling information. She stared at him in horror. "who?"
He gave a long sigh. "Zendrix."
Natalin fought the sudden urge to vomit and barely succeeded.
"What!? You cannot be serious!" Jerosum straightened in his chair his face hardening. "Yes, I am."
She stared in disbelief. Zendrix was the most selfabsorbed-spoiled-rich-boy she had ever seen. He was tall with long blond hair and dark blue eyes. Very hansom at first glance but after a few minutes of conversation you saw him for what he was. A slimy conniving snake! Not the man for her.
She shook her head hard. " No! I will not marrow him!"
"why? He is a noble man and good leader! A fine choice." he said kindly.
"but not MY choice!" she yelled.
"you had you chance."
"but I-"
" he is MY choice for you. As your father I know what is best!" He yelled at her suddenly angry.
Tears flooded her eyes. She shook her head and ran out of the room.

A few minutes later she and Rey were headed towards the woods. Natalin was wearing her black pants and a pale green shirt with long flowing sleeves. She pulled on the reins steering Rey towards the dead woods, away from the usual path. He shook his head and whinnied. " It's okay," she soothed," We'll be fine." She was reliving the last ten minutes over and over. Rey moved slowly between the dead trees flinching away from the scraggly bare branches while Natalin cried silently. She couldn't believe her father would do this to her. He knew how she felt about Zendrix. He knew how terrilble he was! How was she going to deal with this.
rey jerked into a gallop as she sobbed outloud. Her thoughts were suddenly back in the present as she clenched her fists in Rey's mane in attempt to keep from falling of. A long branch whipped her arm as they left the forest, leaving a long cut in her for arm. She gasped in pain as rey began to slow. They were now in a valley between to tall cliffs. The grass was lush and green. A blue stream ran quietly throughout it disappearing into the forest. "wow!" She whispered as she climbed down from rey's back. She nelt next to the stream and dipped her arm in the water. It was cool and silky smooth to the touch. The pain was gone in an instant. Rey walked cautiously over to her and nugged her in the side with his nose. "it's okay," she said to him sweetly," I knew you were scared, I should have paid more attention." He nuzzled her cheek and laid down on the grass. She leaned back against his stomach and closed her eyes feeling suddenly tired. Maybe, she thought, things will turn out okay.
A large shadow past over her. She opened her eyes just in time to see a pack of dragons flying over head. As she watched one sent a stream of flames into the forest, instantly igniting it. She jumped up as rey scrambled to his feet. The dragon at the head of the group shot a fire ball in to the very middle of Zethryl. "No!!" She screamed. She grabbed reys neck and swung her self on to his back. A sparkle of blue came whizzing towards her out over the flaming forest. It was Lilly. She was shaking with panic. "Natalin!" she squeaked, 'it's all burning! They took your father! What do we do!"
Natalin closed her eyes. She needed to think.
"I know," she said opening them, "you go back and check on my father, make sure he's alright and don't let anyone see you! I'm going to see Dracleaous. I'm sure he has nothing to do with this. After working so hard to make the treaty." Lilly nodded furiously and flew away. "Becareful!" She screamed over her shoulder. "I will" Natalin whispered as she and Rey sped down the valley, away from Zethryl.

They were just about to round a bend in the canyon path when a dragon came soaring over the high flaming trees and sent a fire ball spinning past them.
The force of the explosion shook the ground causing Rey to stumbled. He didn't go down however. Natalin had to grasp his mane with all her strength to keep from being thrown from his back. They were around the small bend now and the path had straightened out. Up ahead, maybe three hundred yards away, Natalin spotted a natural cave in the right canyon wall. Perfect for hiding a young girl and horse from a deranged dragon.
Rey was navigating around a small bush near the left canyon-wall, when the dragon spewed another fireball their way. This one impacted right behind them, knocking Natalin from Rey's back as he struggled to keep his footing.
She flew through the air and hit the ground with a bone jarring thud. She rolled limply down the bank into the shallow stream. Rey was still galloping away. He hadn't even noticed she was gone.
She lay still beneath the clear water, holding her breath.
The dragon circled over head, searching. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, It left.
She gasped for air when her head broke the waters surface. It tasted smoky and warm. She coughed. Crawling weakly from the water up the bank she reviewed her injures. There didn't seem to be any broken bones, that was a plus, but she just new she was going to sore for quite a while.
She lay still on the cool grass for a moment. Rey was gone and she was wet. The city was burning and there was nothing she could do. A warm tear slid down her face. Her father would die thinking she hated him. She would never get the chance to tell him just exactly how much he meant to her... She stopped that thought where it stood.
Rey would realize she was gone eventually, once he calmed down. Then he would come back for her.
She stood up stiffly, and saw a bush burning near by. If she was going to save anyone she couldn't risk getting sick, and walking around in soaking wet clothes deffinently wouldn't help.
She carefully made her way over to the bush. The warmth radiating from the flames washed over her face. Ahh, she though, that's nice!
She had just reached down to remove her pants when a strong arm suddenly trapped her arms at her sides, hugging her around the middle. At the same time a knife appeared, pressing against her throat.
A man's deep voice rumbled in her ear. "Who are you?"

Chapter 3

Natalin's breath caught in her throat. How could this be happening, She thought, First the dragons, then Rey, Now-. Her thoughts were interrupted when the knife pressed slightly harder to her throat. "You can talk, right sweet heart?" the man said sweetly, then all kindness vanished from his voice, "Who are you?"
She ground her teeth together. How dare this idiot of a man try to intimidate her this way. She took a deep breath to calm herself and felt the cool blade agaisnt her neck slid higher beneath her chin. "Come on,", he taughnted, sounding sweet again. He rubbed his chin against her cheek. His five o' clock shadow was rough against her smooth skin. "you do have a name, don't you?"
She grumbled between clenched teeth, trying to control her rage.
"What was that?"
She hissed the word.
"Come on sweety," He said in a sing-song voice, "you're gonna have to use words."
"Natalin!" She screached.
He didn't even flinch. "Nat," he said thoughtfully, "I like it! Now," his tone deepened, becoming serious, almost a growl. "Who sent you?"
"Don't call me Nat." She hissed. His arm tightened around her waist.
"who?"
She closed her eyes, breathing deep, trying to contain herself. She failed. "No one sent me you JERK!!!!!" She screamed,
"Sure," he laughed darkly, " and I'm the tooth fairy!"
"I've met the tooth faerie stupid," she said acidly, " and he would die before he even considered threatening a member of the royal house!"
His arm around her waist trembled, "What?!"
Suddenly she'd had enough of this guy and his idiotic questions. She slamed her head back into his face , smashing the brige of his nose. He yelped in pain and jumped backward away from her. She turned on her heel and shoved him to the ground. Jumping on his chest she grabbed his nife from where it had fallen to the ground and pressed it to the soft flesh of his exposed throat. He froze beneath her, a slow grin creeped across his his face. "you think you can use that sweet-"
"Shut up!" SHe hissed at him, pressing the knife harder. "It's my turn to ask questions."
His grin disappeared and he glared at her. "Look I wasn't going to hurt you. I didn't know-"
"SHUT UP!" She pressed harder and felt the skin give beneath the blade. SHe grinned. "That's better-"
This time she was the one interrupted. As quick as a lightning flash the man had a hold of her arms and was lifting her off his chest, safely knocking the knife from her hand. He stood and pinned her to the rock wall by her shoulders. If looks could kill they would both be dead. "I'm trying to tell you," He nearly yelled at her, a few inches from her face. "I'm not going to hurt you!"
She glared right back at him, her eyes flaming with rage. "Yah," she spit at him, every word dripping with sarcasm, "Sure you weren't. You were just playfully threatening my life."
He closed his eyes and seemed to be consentrating.
"My name," he said calmly, "is Harper." His eyes opened, "and I'm NOT," he leaned in closer, " I repeat, NOT going to hurt you."
Natalin however wasn't listening. Hate for this man, this Harper, seethed throught her veins like blood. She wanted to cause him pain for no other reason than to watch him suffer. His face was so close to hers, she could almost see the color of his eyes, which was pretty much impossible since it was dark. Suddenly, without thought she smashed her forhead forward into his... and hit a brick wall. That is exactly what it felt like. Like beating your head against a brick wall. A sudden wave of dizzyness surrounded her. The last thing her concious mind registered befor the darkness completly over took her, was the deep rumbling of a man's voice groaning, "Stupid girl."

Chapter One

"NO!" Natalin screamed, bolting straight up in bed. This wasn't the first time she'd had these kind of nightmares. Every time she woke up screaming in a cold sweat. Trying to slow her racing heart she rubbed her temples.
Natalin was the elvin princess of Zethryl, the elvish capital city. She was average height, sleek and slim with straight jet black hair. Her eyes were bright lime green and her skin fair silky and smooth. Despite her position of Princess and her father Nethrix` constant reminders of it, Natalin was a tom-boy. At twelve years, she loved to hunt, ride horses, fence... All of the things young boys loved to do. Now seventeen years old, Natalin was beginning to understand the pressures of her position and therefore trying to act more as a lady should. She gave up her childhood activities in favor of attending parties and picnics. The only thing she absolutely refused to let go of was her stallion.
Black as midnight and swift as a humming bird, Rey was the most beautiful horse in all the land. It was he who heard Natalin's cry.
Outside in the royal stables, Rey lifted his head from sleep and turned his ears towards the new sound. Realizing something was wrong he turned his head and nudged the sleeping faerie lying in a ball on his back. The faerie yawned, stretching her wings and limbs. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked into the horses bright blue eyes.
"What's wrong Rey?" she yawned. Rey jerked his snout towards the castle.
"Is it Nat?" the fae asked, suddenly alert. The horses silky mane fluttered as he nodded sharply. Without another word the faerie flew out the open stable door. Her wings shimmered in the moon light as she flew through Natalin's open bedroom window.
Natalin's heart had slowed to a normal rate by now and she was leaning against her maple headboard. The faerie landed lightly on Natalin's knee. Natalin jumped at the unexpected contact, causing the faerie to stumble backwards onto the bed.
"WOAH!" the faerie squealed.
"Oh," Natalin gasped, "sorry Lilly! Are you alright?" The faerie looked up through blonde curls , her violet eyes glimmering with laughter.
"I'm fine." Lilly giggled, "how about you?" she asked with concern, "Another nightmare?"
"Yeah," Natalin sighed, "nothing too bad. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Lilly asked patting Natalin's knee. Natalin nodded sleepily. "Okay," Lilly smiled sweetly, "call me if you need anything. Okay?"
Natalin nodded again and, with a last smile, Lilly darted out the window. Natalin gave a deep sigh and snuggled beneath her comforter. With a last glance at the window, she closed her eyes and drifted back into a restless sleep.

Prologue

The moon overhead shone as bright as a silver coin. A young vampire fled through the dark woods. The gold & silver medallion around his neck glimmered in the moonlight. His breath came in ragged gasps as he dashed between the tall bare trees. Naked branches tore at his arms and brambles ripped his bare feet to shreds. Blood pounded in his ears as he heard the distant howl of a Werewolf. Suddenly the trees stopped. He slid to halt on the slick grass coming to the very edge of a canyon. Looking down the vampire couldn't see the bottom, just darkness. Gasping for air, his chest heaving, he franticly searched for away to cross but the other side was a good thirty feet away. Impossible to jump. Suddenly he heard a loud huffing sound. He whirled around to stare into the glowing yellow eyes of the mountain of a Werewolf blocking his way back into the forest. It stood about seven feet tall covered in brown muddy fur. It's thin slobbery lips smiled around razor sharp fangs as it took a challenging step towards the vampire. It growled an evil chuckle as the vampire bared it's fangs and unleashed a blood chilling hiss. The wolf reached out a sharp black claw to tear at the vampire's face. Anticipating his opponent's move the vampire lunged forward into the air. The second he left the ground a griffin emerged from the woods behind the wolf and dove straight at him, knocking him out of the air. The vampire tumbled backwards missing the edge of the cliff and plunging into the darkness.
